Winner of the Belgian Blues Challenge 2022
Istanbul-born blues/rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Özgür Hazar lived in Philadelphia in the USA from 2006 to 2008, where he played in various bands and got to know the many facets of the blues.
He then returned to Istanbul, where he performed in numerous clubs with his own band before settling in Belgium in 2018.
His debut album “Sad and Blue” was released in 2020 on the BRR (Broadcasting Radio Recordings) label and won over the press. Musically, Özgür Hazar is influenced by musicians such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, BB King, Danny Bryant, Walter Trout and others.
In his stage program, he combines styles of New Orleans, uptempo, Texas blues and slow blues with his own compositions. He is accompanied by his band “Blues Syndicate”, a top-class quartet of long-standing bluesmen.
